June 2011 performance and events recap!

By far the month of June has been one of the craziest month's in 2011 jam packed with performances, award shows and much more. Juggling all of the rehearsals, meetings, studio sessions, video shoots and all of the other stuff was pretty crazy. From performance at The Sony Centre, The St.Lawrence Centre, The Rivoli, 6 Degrees and lastly attending The 2011 Dora Mavor Moore Awards alongside the cast of The Grace Project Sick, for our 2 nominations, I guess it's fair to say life has been hectic. As June's crazy schedule is only the beginning of all of the great stuff to come, I'd like to thank everyone for coming out, tweeting, supporting and just showing love at every event. I'm happy to say that while the month of June's performances for over 8,000 people was phenomenal, it was the perfect warm up, as we'll be performing for over 40,000 fans throughout the month of July in Toronto alone. Whats next? The Band and I will be doing a double performance week at Dundas Square on Sunday, July 24th for Youth Day and Saturday,July 30th for Irie Fest during Caribanna weekend. Until then, Check out some of the photo's taken by John Sanchez recapping the month of June!

Domanique speaks in Newfoundland at The National Coop Federation of Housing Canada business meeting

Tomorrow Ill be flying out to Newfoundland St.Johns to speak at The Coop Federation of Housing Canada's National business meeting. Its definitely an exciting time. As someone who outside of being a performer, has always known the importance of housing, and has been working to improve the standards of housing in Toronto, I've never let age become a barrier in anything that I do. With over 164,000 people living in community housing in Toronto so many of us forget that this includes, Students, Seniors, working people and our family and friends. We assume that we can't change anything because of the current state of many of our housing complexes in the city. But imagine if everyone were to think like this. Imagine if no one were to challenge the conditions of Student Housing. Housing that shelters hundreds of thousands of students every year. As this is just one of the many examples of of all of the groups across Canada that rely on Social housing, I personally don't have the time to let age stand as a limitation for me

Ill be speaking in front of representatives from across Canada representing youth from across the country and speaking about my role as a young advocate in Canada, as The Vice President of The 3rd largest housing complex in the city. Ill also be featured in a documentary, which has captured the stories of young people from across the country who alongside many other talents are playing a large role in governance throughout Canada.

The conference will be streamed live athttp://webcasts.welcome2theshow.com/chfc2011 on May 28th at 8am Eastern Time.
Ill also be posting updates here on my website about my trip, so check back tomorrow

I'd like to remind everyone to always follow whats close to your heart, and to never let a dream become a back thought. the voice is its strongest when used with intention because life is it's fullest when lived with a purpose. Its up to you to find out what that is and to realize that your the only one that can do that for you. Trust yourself. Love yourself and find the art in advocacy!

until later
-DG

Stylus Awards 2010

Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Stylus awards 2010
-Before the award show

Unless you were trapped in a box outside of Canada, I think it was a little difficult to ignore talk about the stylus awards, last weekend. With some of the most successful Dj's across Canada, industry reps, producers and artists, lets just say Toronto was a good place to be. In Between a crazy run in with EPMD's Erick Serman, and Parish; The Dj BBQ, after party's and The main award show, it was great being in a room with so many talented people.
The ridiculous line up of dj's included dj Wristpect, Dj Lissa Monet, Dj Spoonz, Ill Kiddz, and many more... Producers included P Plus, Boi 1Da,
This year I put aside my ticket and fly outfit and decided to work as an event staff, which was pretty crazy!!!
I have always loved behind the scenes stuff. Really seeing what goes into shows. All I have to say is award shows are quite interesting and HECTIC! but it was something, watching the show from backstage, with the nominated artists.
Guest artists for the day included Drake, Sean Desmond, Kim Davis, Danny Fernadez, Belly, Trish, Sean Booth, Rochester, Ray Robinson, Mayhem Morearty, Eastside Up and many many more
Met some great people, had some great fun, and slept a beautiful sleep the final night!!!!

DJ WRISPECT

A special shout out goes to DJ Wristpect, who took home the award for mixtape of the year and Toronto DJ of the year. MUCHHHH DESERVED!!! By far My favorite Dj!!! and the epitome of hard working!!!
To read more visit

Kim Davis
Ms. Davis was nominated for Canadian, RnB single of the year, not to mention she killed her performance at The Mod club, last weekend. I still remember the first time I listened to her song Sometimes, it took me back to the RnB soul that this cities been missing for a while! I don't think I have come across an artist as humble and talented as she is. If you do not know Kim Davis, do yourself a favor and catch up!
